FITECMA 2017 has confirmed again it is the largest summoning fair of Argentina’s wood-furniture value chain. It is so deduced on analyzing visitors’ departure place, as 52 per cent of visitors proceeded from Argentina’s inland, 33 per cent from Buenos Aires province and 15 per cent from Buenos Aires City.

At the same time, a highly specialized public, in addition to a wide offer in technology, supplies and products, and a favorable change of mood of visitors with regard to the economic recovery and the investment possibilities at their companies and workshops made possible that a good business climate was recreated during the five-day lasting fair.

In this way, FITECMA thirteenth edition, which was held from last June 13th to 17th, at Centro Costa Salguero in Buenos Aires City, accomplished with companies’ expectations, who took again a special care at stand presentation and their product display.

In the same way, the opinion survey carried out among exhibitors and visitors - as required by IRAM-ISO 9001-2008 Certification, on which FITECMA counts since April 2009 – showed that 98 per cent of participating companies considered as “good” and “very good” the inflow of public, 99 per cent weighed their degree of specialization, and in 94 per cent of cases the volume of business achieved was qualified with a positive valuation.

The survey conducted among visitors turned out equally positive. With regard to aspects related to exhibitors’ offer, more than 98 per cent declared to have found the products they were interested in; 97 per cent considered the offer was enough both in quantity and in presentation; 93 per cent found innovative products in technology and materials, and 98 per cent expressed that exhibitors provided them with the information they were looking for.

In the same way, with percentages ranging from 97 to 100 per cent favorable opinions were collected in subjects related to the fair, which was considered: easy to go round, with attractive stands; well presented; with convenient and simple registration; official catalogue with good contents, and very effective and useful fair map.

The fair showed again a meticulous setting, where the design level of many stands was prominent. 142 exhibitors showed up, representing more than 400 domestic and international trademarks, the latter proceeding from 20 countries. This amount reflects the international recognition gained by FITECMA as a regional reference in Latin America, fully justifying its inclusion in EUMABOIS – European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers – official schedule of international fairs.

The exhibition area took up Costa Salguero fairground four halls, gathering 13,436 visitors who had chance to get in touch with the most varied range of products and technological solutions to optimize the different stages of the wood-furniture value chain.

The public’s departure place showed again clearly the representation achieved by FITECMA within the wood-furniture value chain: visitors arrived from the 23 Argentine provinces and the City of Buenos Aires. Particularly outstanding was the visit of businessmen, manufacturers, professionals, technicians and carpenters from the major industrial poles, such as NEA (Northeastern Argentina), NOA (Northwestern Argentina), Cuyo, the Andean-Patagonian region, Córdoba, Santa Fe, the province of Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires industry belt.

One the factors which had an incidence to attain this high degree of geographical representation of the public was the organizers’ decision to keep – as in previous editions – the free bus service proceeding from 24 towns from inland Argentina, which brought near 1,282 specialized visitors.

Another relevant feature of the public who attended FITECMA 2017 shows that 71 per cent are owners or directors and other 19 per cent are chiefs or supervisors. It proves that 9 out of every 10 visitors to the fair make purchasing decisions in their companies or have a direct influence on the suppliers being chosen.

The presence of public from abroad was also noticed. Delegations proceeding from Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile and Mexico were especially outstanding.

Given the importance assigned to FITECMA as a meeting point for all the actors of the wood-furniture chain, the fair received the visit of the highest national authorities involved in the sectoral policy, among them: the Nation’s Secretary of Industry and Services, Martín A. Etchegoyen; the Nation’s Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishery, Ricardo Negri; Undersecretary of Forest Industrial Development, Lucrecia Santinoni; Undersecretary of Industry, Fernando Grasso; Undersecretary of SME Policy and Management, Carolina Castro, and representatives of nation-level Directions. As well as directors of FAIMA, CAME and the summoning chambers ASORA, CADAMDA, CEMA and CADEFHA.

For its part, in the context of the fair on June 16th the 136th Woodworking Congress of FAIMA – Argentine Federation of the Woodworking Industry and Akin – was held, having gathered 27 organizations and affiliated chambers from all over Argentina, in order to analyze an important agenda of topics of the wood-furniture chain.

As it happens since 2003, FITECMA thirteenth edition added a special service for exhibitors offered by “FITECMA Virtual”, the fair’s Internet version. It enhances the reach of contacts made by means of a computer tool, which already proved its efficiency at the 7 previous editions.

On June 18th, the possibility to go through the fair again was already active at the site www.fitecma.com.ar.

It remained available until September 16th. And the latest advances available at Internet in accessibility and functionality were incorporated, both for mobile devices and social media.

THE FAIR JOINED IMPORTANT SPONSORING INSTITUTIONS

Given the importance which FITECMA realization has to impel the improvement in production processes and the value-added to end products to be obtained by industries comprehended in the wood-furniture value chain, the fair counts at each edition on the sponsorship of the country’s most representative official and private institutions.

The edition 2017 was declared of “National Interest” by: the Nation’s President’s Office, and was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Worship; the Ministry of Production; the Ministry of Tourism, and the Buenos Aires City Government.

On their behalf, the embassies of Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay nominated FITECMA as of preferential interest for favoring the trade exchange among domestic companies and those of their respective countries.
